State of Andhra Pradesh v. K. Satyanarayana (1968) treated rummy as skill-predominant. State of Bombay v. R.M.D. Chamarbaugwala (1957) treated substantial-skill prize competitions as protected trade. The 2023 All India Gaming Federation litigation discussed room for skill-based gaming and reasonable regulation.
